Emily O’Connor is an interdisciplinary artist from Flower Mound, Texas. She graduated from The University of North Texas with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts in the field of New Media Art in 2018. She works in a variety of mediums and techniques, such as sculpture, fibers, film, painting and drawing, and installation work. Her primary focus is on combining sculpture and installation art with technology. Through her work, she explores the themes of hallucinations and the human brain, femininity, ephemerality, and ethereality. She often experiments with the materiality of light and how it can be manipulated. These works use projections and reflective components to bend and shape light, invoking a sense of celestial ambience.

She got her freelance career started in the Denton arts and music community, creating installation work or designing stages for music events. She is most known for her stage lighting and live audiovisual performances, usually displayed alongside performing bands. Through her use of bright, saturated colors and psychedelic patterns, her visuals evoke a dream-like atmosphere. Her goal is to continue on this path and to eventually be performing for larger venues and festivals around the world.

She was awarded two DAM (Denton Arts and Music) awards in 2018 for Best Visual Artist and Best New Media Artist, and in 2019 for Best Visual Artist.

She moved to Las Vegas in 2019, where she continued her career in the events industry. She was employed by MGM Resorts Events Production, fabricating props and creating art installations for some of the biggest events in Vegas. She is currently unemployed (thanks, Covid) and is searching for a similar job.
